About Mee First

Mee First Ministries, was created in the Summer of 2011, as a project in the End Violence Workshop. The End Violence Workshop is a Leadership and Transformational Think Tank/Workshop provided by volunteers, to inmates (insiders) at Lois M. Deberry Special Needs Facility in Nashville, Tennessee. The volunteers, as well as the insiders, each created a project.

 

 

 

 

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to accept responsibility for the decay of society. We are committed to stopping the decay. While participating in the End Violence Workshop, I came to realize that many people want to change and fix the world, but not many are ready to change and fix themselves. If you change yourself first, then you are changing the world. This is why I chose the name MEE FIRST. In Matthew 7:5, Jesus says, "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to take the speck out of your brother's eye."

 

 

 

 

Our Goal

Our goal is to completely destroy Domestic Violence. In the fall of 2011, I participated in a college class offered by Western Kentucky University called Victimology. The class included both outside and inside students from the Lois M. Deberry Special Need Facility. During the class, one of the outside students shared that she was a victim of domestic violence. Her story was told so vividly that I was moved by her pain. She touched me so deeply that I changed the name from Me First to Mee First. The second "e" is for the pain of Everyone, and it will take Everyone collectively to destroy Domestic Violence.

Edmund Burke says, "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." Please, good people, join the fight with us.

I asked my professor if Domestic Violence was considered a mental illness. She suggested I do some research. So, the search is on, but in the meantime, it must be addressed. We have two main goals. The first is to set up houses for the victims and their children. The second is to set up classes for the perpetrators, to help stop this decay. I have come to realize that some of the perpetrators truly love their families.

Our Mission

Our mission is to walk in love, the kind of love that everyone can see. In St. John 13:35, Jesus says "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." Every time I meet a follower of GOD for the first time, I ask them, "Outside of church or a bible study, do people recognize you as a follower of GOD?" Some say, "I hope so," some say, "I think so," some say, "I really don't know," and some say, "some times." The Bible says we should be recognized. I say our Mission is to start walking like followers and stop talking like followers. James 1:22 says, "But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves."
